Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions
The Mountain Ridge Mountain lion ‘Pride of the West’ are an award winning band from Glendale Arizona. They have a superb marching show as well as 3 superior concert bands. Under the direction of ‘07/08 Teacher of the Year’, George Hattendorf, the ‘Pride of the West’ has represented Arizona during the 2009 Presidential Inauguration parade in Washington DC where they performed for the President, the entire southwestern United States as representative in the Tournament of Roses Parade, Represented Arizona in the Fiesta Bowl Parade and Band Pageant, and consistently take top honors in all marching and concert events they participate in. During the Football Season, they can be heard in the stands as well as performing their unique halftime or pre game show, Firebird Suite. They also travel to many competitions thru out the year such as the B.O.A. festival in Flagstaff, NAU and U of A band days, as well as many ‘in town’ events. During the 2009/10 season, they received superior with distinction at the ABODA State festival and received individual captions in all categories. During the winter and spring months, they offer three separate concert bands. Last year all three received superior ratings at the State concert festival. If that wasn’t enough, They also have an award winning Jazz program lead by Assistant Director, Mike Warner.
