The Mountain Ridge winter guard program has a long-standing tradition of excellence. Winter guard was started at Mountain Ridge in 1998. The group competed in the Scholastic Regional A division until 2006 when they were bumped to Scholastic A during the season and proceeded to win their first State Championship. Since 2006, the Ridge winter guard program has finished in the top 3 every single year, including 1 more state championship title in the Scholastic A division and 2 more in the Scholastic Open Division. In 2016, the program grew beyond the 30 allowed participants for a single group, so a JV winter guard was added. The JV guard serves as a place for new members to join in December, learn the activity, and compete in the low pressure environment of the Regional A division. The guard program at Mountain Ridge is proud to be a no-cut program and invites any interested students in grades 7-12 to reach out to our director!
